May 12, 2021 - "PERSISTENCE!"

“The art of love is largely the art of persistence.”
― Albert Ellis

"Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth... Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth... For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also." Matthew 5:5, 6:19,21

"The powers of the mind are developed in much the same way that the muscles of the body are. Persistent affirmation of a certain desire in the silence concentrates the mental energies and beats down all barriers." Charles Fillmore, Jesus Christ Heals 70

"Don't hide inside, don't come out and shine like yang, but hold steadfastly to the middle ground. Follow these three rules and you will be known as one of the truest." The Book of Chuang Tzu, Martin Palmer,et. al. 159

"The secret of our power to help others lies in our refusing to be moved by the appearances and the apparent lacks that are reported to us, and in our standing steadfastly holding to the Truth of being and declaring the working out of the constructive thoughts and words we have sent forth, in which we ask those who identify themselves with us to cooperate." Myrtle Fillmore, Healing Letters 133

"Anything that can help you wake up has Buddha nature. When I am alone and a bird calls me, I return to myself, I breathe, and I smile, and sometimes it calls me once more." Thich Nhat Hanh, Being Peace 23-24

"If our hearts go out in love to all with whom we come in contact, we inspire love, and the same ennobling and warming influences of love always return to us from those in whom we inspire them." Ralph Waldo Trine, In Tune With The Infinite, 56

"Meekness, spiritually considered, is an attitude of receptivity to the divine will... Righteousness is the right or spiritual use of mental, physical, and spiritual faculties, which are manifested as right action." Elizabeth Sand Turner, Your Hope of Glory, 91-92

“Patience, persistence and perspiration make an unbeatable combination for success.” -- Napoleon Hill

“Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied.... For the gate is narrow and the way is hard, that leads to life, and those who find it are few... And when you pray, you must not be like the hypocrites... go into your room and shut the door and pray to your Father who is in secret; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you.” Matthew 5:6, 6:5,6

"BEING HAPPY!" is our topic for this month. Using the Beattitudes (Mt. 5: 3-10) as a guide to understanding the Sermon on the Mount (Mt. 5, 6 & 7), we garner a deeper understanding of Jesus' teachings and 'The Good News!' of the Gospels which is our theme for this year.

The word most often interpreted as "Blessed" can also mean happy, aligned, in-tune or awakened. We can realize the blessings of these 'Attitudes of Being' as happiness and fulfillment in our everyday lives as we practice being aligned or in-tune with the infinite, unlimited, eternal, presence and power which is God.

These 'Attitudes' can be summarized simply as: 1) Being Open – “poor in spirit”, 2) Being Free - “mourn", 3) Being Non-Resistant - “meek”, 4) Being Positive - “hunger & thirst for righteousness”, 5) Being Conscious - “merciful”, 6) Being Faith Filled - “pure in heart”, 7) Being Peace - “peacemakers”, and 8) Being Regenerated - “persecuted”.

These are the Good News!

Thank you for accompanying us on this journey of self-discovery!

Please affirm with us: “I AM Happy, Healthy, Whole and Free, just as God created me to be!"

Thank you God, thank you God, thank you God!

For so it is and so it shall be, Amen!

May 5, 2021 - "BEING HAPPY!"

“If you want others to be happy, practice compassion.
If you want to be happy, practice compassion.”
― H.H. the Dalai Lama:

"Seeing the crowds, he went up on the mountain, and when he sat down his disciples came to him. And he opened his mouth and taught them, saying: 'Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven... Every one then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house upon the rock'" Matthew 5:1-3, 7:24

"To a person in the understanding of Truth prayer should be an affirmation of that which is in Being... All things are in God as potentialities. It is man's office under the divine law to bring into manifestation that which has been created or planned by the unmanifest." Charles Fillmore, Jesus Christ Heals 67

"A good swimmer learns quickly... because he knows how to ignore the water... To pay too much attention to such external things makes you thoughtless about the internal things." The Book of Chuang Tzu, Martin Palmer,et. al. 158-9

"Anything that awakens in me the loving desire to have others happy and adorned with beautiful things, and anything that helps me to express this loving desire in my own living is sure to bring forth its fruit in my own life." Myrtle Fillmore, Healing Letters 19

"The second gem is Dharma. Dharma is what the Buddha taught... the way to realize understanding and love." Thich Nhat Hanh, Being Peace 23

"(Jesus) always spoke to the highest, the truest, and the best in men. He knew and He recognized the God in each because He had first realized it in Himself." Ralph Waldo Trine, In Tune With The Infinite, 56

"The Sermon is the new law; it is not meant to abrogate the revered Mosaic law but it is to teach us how the law may be fulfilled spiritually... Moses stated the law; Jesus explained the way to obey it." Elizabeth Sand Turner, Your Hope of Glory, 90

“You will never be happy if you continue to search for what happiness consists of. You will never live if you are looking for the meaning of life.” -- Albert Camus

“Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted... For the gate is narrow and the way is hard, that leads to life, and those who find it are few.” Matthew 5:4, 7:14

April 28, 2021 - "ALL ENCOMPASSING MIND!"

“Nothing is at last sacred but the integrity of your own mind.”
― Ralph Waldo Emerson

"Now there was a man of the Pharisees, named Nicode′mus, a ruler of the Jews... Jesus answered him, 'Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born anew, he cannot see the kingdom of God.'" John 3:1,3

"God is the name of the all-encompassing Mind. Christ is the name of the all-loving mind. Holy Spirit is the all-active manifestation. These three are one fundamental Mind in its three creative aspects." Charles Fillmore, Jesus Christ Heals 63

"Do not hearken to the Heavenly in humanity, but listen to the Heavenly in Heaven, for paying attention to Heaven's Virtue is life giving... Do not cast aside the Heavenly, and do not ignore the human aspect: then the people will draw closer to the realization of Truth!" The Book of Chuang Tzu, Martin Palmer,et. al. 158

"Dear one, you are becoming consciously established in the poise of the Christ Mind, where you are constantly open and receptive to new ideas, new inspiration, new vitality... You are putting the personal self aside in order that the capacity of the Christ I AM may be demonstrated." Myrtle Fillmore, Healing Letters 174

"We are all Buddhas, because only through us can understanding and love become tangible and effective... When we realize awakening, when we are understanding and loving, each of us is a Buddhakaya." Thich Nhat Hanh, Being Peace 22-23

"The truly wise man is never selfish. He is a seer, and recognizes the fact that he... is benefited in just the degree that the entire body is benefited." Ralph Waldo Trine, In Tune With The Infinite, 55

"Our innate desire is to grow spiritually; we want to see the 'kingdom of God.' But this is not possible until we are 'born anew'... we must be willing and eager to come into a higher state of consciousness... the consciousness of divine law and to lift the whole man into a new life of harmony and order...'" Elizabeth Sand Turner, Your Hope of Glory, 59-60

“We are shaped by our thoughts; we become what we think. When the mind is pure, joy follows like a shadow that never leaves.” -- Buddha

“Jesus answered, 'Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.'” John 3:5-6

"Jesus: Wonderful Counselor!" is our topic for this month. In keeping with our annual theme, "The Good News!", we are exploring the teachings of the Master. As a Spiritual Counselor, he worked with three basic premises: 1) the individual is whole and complete just as they are; there is nothing to fix (John 5:2-18), 2) the Christ within desires perfect expression (John 14:20), and 3) guidance is not rationally or logically determined but is intuitively (Divinely) directed (John 3:1-15).

The Sermon on the Mount, Matthew 5, 6 & 7, which we will explore in more detail next month, is structured around the Beattitudes (Mt 3-10). These "Attitudes of Being" are to direct our thoughts and thinking about life and living.

In Mark 10: 13-16, He instructs us to become "like a child" open, receptive, without preconceived notions and prejudices.

In Luke 10:23-37, we find out how to be a good neighbor; we are not to be like the hypocrites avoiding our responsibilities to our brothers and sisters; we are to give aid to those in need.

In John 3:1-15, we are instructed in the necessity of being "born anew", "born of water and the Spirit". "God is Spirit", John 4:24, and we are made in the image and after the likeness of Spirit (Genesis 1:26) ; we are inherently Spiritual beings having a human experience as well as human beings learning to express our Spiritual reality.

This is Good News!

Thank you for accompanying us on this journey of self-discovery!

Please affirm with us: “I align my mind with the God Mind; my thoughts are God thoughts; my actions are guided by Good Orderly Direction; we are one!"

Thank you God, thank you God, thank you God!

For so it is and so it shall be, Amen!

April 21, 2021 - "UNIVERSAL THOUGHT SUBSTANCE!"

“Our life always expresses the result of our dominant thoughts.”
― Soren Kierkegaard

"And behold, a lawyer stood up to put him to the test... 'And who is my neighbor?'" Luke 10: 25, 29

"There is a universal thought substance in which thought builds whatever man wills." Charles Fillmore, Jesus Christ Heals 60

"We should recognize that everything under Heaven is united. Thus it is possible to get rid of chaos, violence and warfare and of the rigours of punishment and execution, for this is the Tao." The Book of Chuang Tzu, Martin Palmer,et. al. 157-8

"Turn away from all these conflicting and confusing and discouraging thoughts and appearances, and give your interest and undivided attention to God." Myrtle Fillmore, Healing Letters 171

"When we say, 'I take refuge in the Buddha,' we should also understand that 'The Buddha takes refuge in me,' because without the second part the first part is not complete." Thich Nhat Hanh, Being Peace 21

"This is the Spirit of Infinite Love. The moment we recognize ourselves as one with it we become so filled with love that we see only the good in all." Ralph Waldo Trine, In Tune With The Infinite, 54

"We cannot expect to correct all the ills of the world but we can help the people with whom we come in contact. This is our spiritual service." Elizabeth Sand Turner, Your Hope of Glory, 166

“The game of life is a game of boomerangs. Our thoughts, deeds and words return to us sooner or later with astounding accuracy.” -- Florence Scovel Shinn

“But a Samaritan, as he journeyed, came to where he was; and when he saw him, he had compassion, and went to him and bound up his wounds, pouring on oil and wine; then he set him on his own beast and brought him to an inn, and took care of him.” Luke 10:33-34

April 14, 2021 - "MIND, IDEA MANIFESTATION!"

“The mind is not a vessel to be filled
but a fire to be kindled.”
― Plutarch

"And they were bringing children to him, that he might touch them; and the disciples rebuked them. But when Jesus saw it he was indignant, and said to them, 'Let the children come to me, do not hinder them; for to such belongs the kingdom of God.'" Mark 10:13-14

"In every act is involved mind, idea, and manifestation. The mind is neither seen nor felt; the idea is not seen, but it is felt; and the manifestation appears." Charles Fillmore, Jesus Christ Heals 54

"It means being able to reside within limits which have no limit... combine the essential nature, nourish the original breath, harmonize Virtue and, by following this path, commune with the origin of all life." The Book of Chuang Tzu, Martin Palmer,et. al. 157

"The realm of mind is even more fascinating than the manifestation of its ideas. One who strikes a balance between the study of the mental side and the manifestations, and in living in his threefold being is truly blessed." Myrtle Fillmore, Healing Letters 88

"Someone who is awake, who knows, who understands, is called a Buddha. Buddha is in everyone of us. We can become awake, understanding and also loving." Thich Nhat Hanh, Being Peace 15

"When we are able to do away with all sense of separateness by living continually in the realization of this oneness, not only will our bodily ills and weaknesses vanish, but all limitations along all lines." Ralph Waldo Trine, In Tune With The Infinite, 53

"Symbolically, the trinity represents mind, idea, and expression; or thinker, thought, and action." Elizabeth Sand Turner, Your Hope of Glory, 48

“Put your heart, mind, and soul into even your smallest acts. This is the secret of success.” -- Swami Sivananda

“'Truly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God like a child shall not enter it.' And he took them in his arms and blessed them, laying his hands upon them.” Mark 10:15-16

April 7, 2021 - "THE POWER OF THOUGHT!"

“Change your thoughts
and you change your world.”

  ― Norman Vincent Peale

"Seeing the crowds, he went up on the mountain, and when he sat down his disciples came to him. And he opened his mouth and taught them...” Matthew 5:1-2

"It has been proved again and again that there is a definite relation between the thoughts of man and the conditions in his body," Charles Fillmore, Jesus Christ Heals 53

"Everything has a face, forms, sounds and colour: these are just appearances... everything arises from what is formless and descends into that which is changeless." The Book of Chuang Tzu, Martin Palmer,et. al. 157

"Positive declaration of the truth of one's unity with God sets up a new current of thought power, which delivers one from the old beliefs and their depression. And when the soul is lifted up and becomes positive, the body and the affairs are readily healed." Myrtle Fillmore, Healing Letters 35

"When you understand, you cannot help but love. You cannot get angry. To develop understanding, you have to practice looking at all living beings with the eyes of compassion." Thich Nhat Hanh, Being Peace 14-15

"The health of your body, like the health and strength of your mind, depends upon what you relate yourself with." Ralph Waldo Trine, In Tune With The Infinite, 53

"The Sermon (on the Mount, Matthew 5, 6 & 7) is the new law; it is not meant to abrogate the revered Mosaic law but it is to teach us how this law may be fulfilled spiritually... Moses stated the law; Jesus explained the way to obey it." Elizabeth Sand Turner, Your Hope of Glory, 90

“The happiness of your life depends upon the quality of your thoughts: therefore, guard accordingly, and take care that you entertain no notions unsuitable to virtue and reasonable nature.” --  Marcus Aurelius

“And when Jesus finished these sayings, the crowds were astonished at his teaching, for he taught them as one who had authority, and not as their scribes.” Matthew 7:28-29
