September 25, 2019 - "INFINITE SPIRIT!"

“If a thing loves, it is infinite.”
― William Blake

" And God said to him, “Your name is Jacob; no longer shall your name be called Jacob, but Israel shall be your name.” So his name was called Israel." Genesis 35:10

"When you have learned how to abandon yourself to infinite Spirit and have seasons of doing this daily, you will be surprised at the marvelous change that will be wrought in you without any conscious effort of your own." Complete Works of H. Emilie Cady, Lessons in Truth 96

"Instead of Jacob being weaker... he was stronger, because he had made a spiritual adjustment between the higher and the lower in his body consciousness. One can change one's attitude toward the body and thus change the body itself..." Charles Fillmore, Mysteries of Genesis 260

"In this time of perfect Virtue, people live side by side with the birds and beasts, sharing the world in common with all life." The Book of Chuang Tzu, Martin Palmer, et. al. 73

"Unlimited as the infinite Provider is as our resource, we must still the restless mortal in order to receive; then deep and full shall the inner breath be to fill our relaxed and receptive organism. " Myrtle Fillmore, Healing Letters 157

"As far as the laws of mathematics refer to reality, they are not certain; as far as they are certain, they do not refer to reality," Albert Einstein, Zen To Go, Jon Winokur 83

"The Creator, in taking infinite pains to shroud with mystery His presence in every atom of creation, could have had but one motive - a sensitive desire that men seek Him only through free will." Paramahansa Yogananda

"Now the sons of Jacob were twelve. " Genesis 35:22

Chapters 29 - 36 of Genesis give us the stories of Jacob's journey to the East to find a wife, symbolizing entering into the inner spiritual realm (the secret place) to create a mystical union with the divine. He worked seven years for Rachel but was tricked into marrying her older sister Leah and working another seven years; through them he has twelve sons and a daughter. These are an early development of our spiritual faculties or powers of man that reach a spiritually guided expression with the twelve apostles.

On his way to be reconciled with his brother Esau, Jacob wrestles with a man all night and is injured yet prevails; he receives a blessing and is now called Israel: He who strives with God. It is our physical, earthly consciousness that fights with divine guidance and produces our hurts of body and mind. When we release and let go, we know that God is real; Israel is a contraction of three of the holy names for God: Isis, Rah and Elohim, the feminine, masculine and absolute.

The Secret Place of the Most High is the ninth chapter of Dr. Cady's book, Lessons in Truth. We learn to make that journey of inner discovery and rest in the place of refuge where we know we are one with God in Christ. Here there is a mystical union with spirit that allows for spiritual illumination, the realization and the expression of Infinite Spirit.

This years theme of New Beginnings involves returning to our beginnings: the book of Genesis which literally means 'the beginnings' and Lessons in Truth which is Unity's first and primary text book. Having traveled around the spiral of continuing spiritual growth we can view these foundational studies from a new level of understanding.

Please affirm with us: “God in Christ abides always at the center of my being; I realize peace, wholeness and abundance in unity!"

Thank you God, thank you God, thank you God!

For so it is and so it shall be, Amen!

September 18, 2019 - "SPIRITUAL ILLUMINATION!"

“To know men is to be wise; to know oneself is to be illumined”
― Lao Tzu

"And Jacob was left alone; and a man wrestled with him until the breaking of the day." Genesis 32:24

"So to each of us this spiritual illumination that we are crying out after, this enduement of power for which we are willing to sell all that we have, must come from 'on high,' that is, to the consciousness from the Spirit within our being," Complete Works of H. Emilie Cady, Lessons in Truth 95

"A great light of understanding breaks in on the struggling soul, of which the intellect is a part, when it discovers that there is a divine-natural body, and it clings to that inner life and strength until it brings to the surface the blessing of perpetual physical vigor." Charles Fillmore, Mysteries of Genesis 259

"My description of being wise has nothing to do with benevolence and righteousness, it is that one should be led by one's innate nature, nothing more. When I talk about having good hearing, I don't mean just listening, but listening to yourself." The Book of Chuang Tzu, Martin Palmer, et. al. 69-70

"On the mountain top we receive new illumination, inspiration, and insight into the providing law... We should carry the light, joy, peace, and strength we receive on the spiritual heights of consciousness down into our everyday life for the purpose of redeeming the human part of us." Myrtle Fillmore, Healing Letters 49

"Reality is a staircase going neither up nor down. We don't move, today is today, always is today." Octavio Paz, Zen To Go, Jon Winokur 82

"Confront the dark parts of yourself, and work to banish them with illumination and forgiveness. Your willingness to wrestle with your demons will cause your angels to sing." August Wilson

"Then he said, 'Your name shall no more be called Jacob, but Israel, for you have striven with God and with men, and have prevailed.'" Genesis 32:28

September 11, 2019 - "THE POINT OF MYSTICAL UNION!"

“The true artist helps the world by revealing mystic truths.”
― Bruce Nauman

"When Laban heard the tidings of Jacob his sister’s son, he ran to meet him, and embraced him and kissed him, and brought him to his house. Jacob told Laban all these things, and Laban said to him, 'Surely you are my bone and my flesh!'" Genesis 29:13-14

"'The secret place of the most High' (Ps 91:1) is the point of mystical union between man and Spirit (or God in us), wherein we no longer believe, but know, that God in Christ abides always at the center of our being..." Complete Works of H. Emilie Cady, Lessons in Truth 92

"When unselfish love touches the heart, self drops out of the mind. Love in the Heart lifts us out of the time limitations of sense consciousness into the joy of the eternal present." Charles Fillmore, Mysteries of Genesis 234

"One on the true path does not lose his innate nature. To such a man that which is united presents no problem; That which is divided is all right; What is long is not too long; That which is short is not too short." The Book of Chuang Tzu, Martin Palmer, et. al. 67

"God is Mind. We have the mind of Christ, and it is for us to make conscious union in the silence with the all-providing Mind, lifting our thoughts to its standard of Truth and holding them in this Truth as we go about our own particular duties of living." Myrtle Fillmore, Healing Letters 51

"There is no reality except the one contained within us. That is why so many people live such an unreal life. They take the images outside them for reality and never allow the world within to assert itself." Hermann Hesse, Zen To Go, Jon Winokur 81

"The true mystic is always both humble and compassionate, for she knows that she does not know." Richard Rohr

"So Jacob served seven years for Rachel, and they seemed to him but a few days because of the love he had for her." Genesis 29:20

September 4, 2019 - "THE SECRET PLACE!"

“Music and rhythm find their way into
the secret places of the soul”

 ― Plato

"Then Jacob went on his journey, and came to the land of the people of the east." Genesis 29:1

"It is a secret place because it is a place of meeting between the Christ at the center of your being and your consciousness -- a hidden place into which no outside person can either induct you or enter himself." Complete Works of H. Emilie Cady, Lessons in Truth 90

"Metaphysically interpreted, Jacob's journeying toward the east is a way of saying that the illumined intellect is penetrating deeper into the inner spiritual consciousness." Charles Fillmore, Mysteries of Genesis 233

"The perfect man's heart is like a mirror. It does not search after things. it does not look for things. It does not seek knowledge, just responds. As a result he can handle everything and is not harmed by anything." The Book of Chuang Tzu, Martin Palmer, et. al. 64

"We should not draw the strings of this instrument of Spirit so tight that the music of the soul cannot find expression, but this is what living in the world without withdrawal to the secret place does to us." Myrtle Fillmore, Healing Letters 44

"Observe things as they are and don't pay attention to other people." Huang Po, Zen To Go, Jon Winokur 81

"Stay in the secret place till the surrounding noises begin to fade out of your heart and a sense of God's presence envelops you. Deliberately tune out the unpleasant sounds and come out of your closet determined not to hear them. Listen for the inward voice till you learn to recognize it." Aiden Wilson Tozer

"Jacob went up and rolled the stone from the well’s mouth, and watered the flock of Laban his mother’s brother." Genesis 29:10

August 28, 2019 - "GIVING IS RECEIVING IS GIVING!"

“Giving is true having.”
― Charles Spurgeon

"Then Isaac called Jacob and blessed him..." Genesis 28:1

"A pool cannot be kept clean and sweet and renewed unless there is an outlet as well as an inlet. It is our business to keep the outlet open and God's business to keep the stream flowing in and through us." Complete Works of H. Emilie Cady, Lessons in Truth 86

"God is right here in our midst. Understanding, when turned toward the omnipresent light of Spirit, opens its eyes to the astonishing fact that the seemingly material bodies and temporal surroundings conceal the immanent God." Charles Fillmore, Mysteries of Genesis 228

"Hold what is but do not hold it to be anything. Work with all that comes from heaven, but do not seek to hold it. Just be empty." The Book of Chuang Tzu, Martin Palmer, et. al. 64

"As you help others spiritually and in every way you not only fulfill the law of giving and receiving, but you develop your own resources and capabilities in fuller measure." Myrtle Fillmore, Healing Letters 167

"Trying to define yourself is like trying to bite your own teeth" Alan Watts, Zen To Go, Jon Winokur 68

"Since you get more joy out of giving joy to others, you should put a good deal of thought into the happiness that you are able to give.” Eleanor Roosevelt

"And he dreamed that there was a ladder set up on the earth, and the top of it reached to heaven; and behold, the angels of God were ascending and descending on it!" Genesis 28:12

The wondrous story of Isaac’s servants spiritual revelation in his search for a wife for his master demonstrates the divine guidance that is achieved when we seek to establish a spiritual balance. The result of this union with Rebekah, symbolizing 'the soul's natural delight in beauty' produces a strong physical vitality (Esau) and an active mentality (Jacob): the two natural phases of life. The mental is closer to the spiritual level of being and therefore receives the blessing of the father principle (Isaac) even though Esau was born first.

Jacob is a man of great spiritual insight. His dream (angels ascending and descending a ladder to Heaven), while traveling to Haran to take a wife, shows his link in the journey from the first glimmer of faith (Abraham) to the manifestation of God’s perfect idea (the 12 sons/tribes of Israel). See 24:1 - 28:22.

Spiritual Understanding is the eighth chapter of Dr. Cady's book Lessons in Truth. We reach beyond appearances of separation to realize our oneness in God; reach beyond limited outer knowledge to realized deeper inner Truth; reach beyond stagnation to realize the divine flow in and through and as us!

This years New Beginnings theme involves returning to our beginnings, the book of Genesis which literally means 'the beginnings' and Lessons in Truth which is Unity's first and primary text book. Having traveled around the spiral of continuing spiritual growth we can view these foundational studies from a new level of understanding.

Please affirm with us: “God is not only the giver of all good gifts, but the gift itself!"

Thank you God, thank you God, thank you God!

For so it is and so it shall be, Amen!

 August 21, 2019 - "NEW LIGHT!"

“It is better to light a candle than curse the darkness.”
― Eleanor Roosevelt

"When her days to be delivered were fulfilled, behold, there were twins in her womb. The first came forth red, all his body like a hairy mantle; so they called his name Esau. Afterward his brother came forth, and his hand had taken hold of Esau’s heel; so his name was called Jacob." Genesis 25:24-26

"With Spiritual Understanding comes new light on the scriptures. The very Spirit of Truth, which has come to abide with you forever in your consciousness, takes the deep things of God and reveals them to you." Complete Works of H. Emilie Cady, Lessons in Truth 85

"The inner joyous life current (Isaac) gradually builds up a physical body of great vitality and at the same time develops an active mentality. These two phases of life, the mental and the physical, are represented by Isaac's twin sons Jacob and Esau." Charles Fillmore, Mysteries of Genesis 209

"The rule of a king who is great in wisdom! His works affect all under Heaven yet he seems to do nothing. His authority reaches all life, yet no one relies upon him. There is no fame or glory for him but everything fulfils itself. He stands upon mystery and wanders where there is nothing." The Book of Chuang Tzu, Martin Palmer, et. al. 62

"Those who take time regularly and who give themselves to the necessary prayer and meditation, to get new light and to round out their consciousness and ability to use all their faculties, find that they go from one prosperity to another." Myrtle Fillmore, Healing Letters 74

"As far as we can discern, the sole purpose of human existence is to kindle a light in the darkness of mere being.” Carl Jung

"When the boys grew up, Esau was a skilful hunter, a man of the field, while Jacob was a quiet man, dwelling in tents. Isaac loved Esau, because he ate of his game; but Rebekah loved Jacob." Genesis 25:27-28

August 14, 2019 - "LIVING WORD!"

“Without knowing the force of words, it is impossible to know more.”
― Confucius

"And Isaac sowed in that land, and reaped in the same year a hundredfold. The Lord blessed him..." Genesis 26:12

"When you first consciously desire spiritual understanding... turn your thoughts away from the external seeming toward the central and real... Begin with words of Truth that you have learned... you must with effort pass the place of doubt; and one day, in the fullness of God's time, while you are using the words of Truth, they will suddenly be illumined and become to you the Living Word within you," Complete Works of H. Emilie Cady, Lessons in Truth 84

"Isaac was the connecting link between Abraham and Israel; that is, between faith in God and rulership or manifestation of God." Charles Fillmore, Mysteries of Genesis 214

"If you are one with the great Way, then you no longer have preferences. If you are one with the cosmos, you are transformed." The Book of Chuang Tzu, Martin Palmer, et. al. 58

July 31, 2019 - "SPIRITUAL UNDERSTANDING!"

"Let the maiden to whom I shall say, ‘Pray let down your jar that I may drink,’ and who shall say, ‘Drink, and I will water your camels’—let her be the one whom thou hast appointed for thy servant Isaac. By this I shall know that thou hast shown steadfast love to my master.'" Genesis 24:14

July 24, 2019 - "THE REAL YOU!"

“Individuality is only possible if it unfolds from wholeness.”
~ David Bohm

"Sarah lived a hundred and twenty-seven years; these were the years of the life of Sarah." Genesis 23:1

"Individuality is the term used to denote the real man. The more God comes into visibility through a person, the more individualized he becomes." Complete Works of H. Emilie Cady, Lessons in Truth 74

"Sarah (symbolizing the spiritual soul in a certain degree of unfoldment) died in Kiriath-arba. In truth however the higher activities of the soul cannot die. It may seemingly become entangled in thoughts on the natural plane and disappear for a season from the conscious mind. However it is enjoying a period of rest in preparation for a new and higher expression." Charles Fillmore, Mysteries of Genesis 189-190

"The man alone is only alone when compared to others, but he is alongside Heaven." The Book of Chuang Tzu, Martin Palmer, et. al. 56

"The human part of us wants to cling to things visible and to other people, but as the impersonal, spiritual, Christ finds expression we gradually cease to lean upon these material limitations." Myrtle Fillmore, Healing Letters 90

"If there is to be any peace it will come through being, not having." Henry Miller, Zen To Go, Jon Winokur 63

"Spiritually you are an idea in the mind of God. That idea must be given expression in you.” Imelda Octavia Shanklin, What Are You? 10

"After this, Abraham buried Sarah his wife in the cave of the field of Mach-pe′lah east of Mamre (that is, Hebron) in the land of Canaan." Genesis 23:19

Our faith is rising in prominence within our consciousness, Abram has become Abraham, and is ready to begat laughter, joy (Isaac.) First a cleansing in the subconscious is necessary, Sodom and Gomorrah are destroyed. God, Divine Spirit, is identified in 3 persons: Spirit, Soul, Body; Spiritual, Mental, Physical; Mind, Idea, Expression; etc. Sarah gives birth to Isaac (joy, laughter) even though she is 'old and well stricken with age.' It is never too late to birth a new consciousness of Truth and joy. See Genesis chapters 18-23.

A 'Definition of Terms' is the seventh chapter of Dr. Cady's book Lessons in Truth. Here we learn of Thought Transference (praying with others), Chemicalization (cleansing), Personality and Individuality (human and real.) Trusting God, cleaning house and helping others are keystones to a fulfilling spiritual life.

And so, we continue our New Beginnings annual theme plus our joint study of the Mysteries of Genesis and Lessons in Truth. This month our work of cleansing consciousness and reaching beyond our human limitations to our divine potential becomes clearer. We are agents for positive growth and change.

Please affirm with us: “There is absolutely nothing to fear; Perfect Love reigns!"

Thank you God, thank you God, thank you God!

For so it is and so it shall be, Amen!

"We can never have enough of that which we really do not want." Eric Hoffer, Zen To Go, Jon Winokur 62

"In the fact that the personal can be changed lies your hope of achievement. In the fact that the impersonal is changeless lies your assurance of an attainable perfection in the realms of conscious being,” Imelda Octavia Shanklin, What Are You? 6

"And the angel of the Lord called to Abraham a second time from heaven, and said, 'By myself I have sworn, says the Lord, because you have done this, and have not withheld your son, your only son, I will indeed bless you, and I will multiply your descendants as the stars of heaven and as the sand which is on the seashore.'" There has been a clash between the old condition -- which was based on falsehood, fear and wrong ways of thinking -- and the new thought or Truth entering into you... something higher and better always results." Complete Works of H. Emilie Cady, Lessons in Truth 72-73

"Eventually all error must be wiped out of consciousness... The destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah by fire represents a mighty purifying process that makes man ready for a great realization of divine life." Charles Fillmore, Mysteries of Genesis 168

but it changes him who prays.”
~ Soren Kierkegaard

"The oak tree denotes something strong and protective... although the one Mind is the omnipresent source of all, it manifests itself as a trinity of spirit, soul, and body, or spirit, consciousness and substance." Charles Fillmore, Mysteries of Genesis 157-8

"The sage sees his role as that of a wanderer... someone who does not allow either the good or the bad to have any effect upon him. He lets all things be and allows life to continue in its own way." The Book of Chuang Tzu, Martin Palmer, et. al. 44

"We do not promise to say a prayer of words and have the saying work a miracle in another individual. Our work is to call attention to the true way of living and to inspire others to want to live in that true way. Our prayers are for the purpose of encouraging those who are making the effort to lay hold of Truth and prove it." Myrtle Fillmore, Healing Letters 134

"Beware lest you lose the substance by grasping at the shadow." Aesop, Zen To Go, Jon Winokur 60
