March 28, 2018 - "BEING COMFORTED!"

"Cure sometimes, treat often,
comfort always."
Hippocrates

"In everything do to others as you would have them do to you; for this is the law and the prophets." Matthew 7:12

"Man never indulges in his animal nature without having a reaction of discomfort, which he sees is opposed to that which is comfort. When this is extended into the experiences of a race the reaction takes on the aspect of good and evil... The so-called principles of good and evil are nonexistent outside the sense mind.” Charles Fillmore, Keep A True Lent 60

"Out beyond ideas of wrongdoing and rightdoing, there is a field. I'll meet you there." The Essential Rumi, Coleman Barks 36

"When wisdom and love and life and power prompt your thoughts, you are living and moving and having your being in the very presence of God, and you know that all is well. Then you will be able to concentrate upon anything that requires your attention, and you will be quiet and poised and comfortable. With a relaxed body you will lay hold of more life activity and come forth refreshed." Myrtle Fillmore, Healing Letters 44

"If we set ourselves to serve Ishwara (God,) if we dedicate our actions and surrender our will to him, we shall find that he draws us to himself. This is the grace of God , which Sri Ramakrishna compared to an ever blowing breeze; you only have to raise your sail in order to catch it." How to Know God - The Yoga Aphorisms of Patanjali 54

"When we grieve that we have not realized the truth of God, then only will we be comforted." Swami Prabhavananda, The Sermon on the Mount according to Vedanta 21

"Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I fear no evil; for you are with me; your rod and your staff they comfort me." Psalm 23:4

Mourning is an attitude of releasing, letting go of the old so that we may embrace the new. In our study of this second 'Beattitude' "Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted." Matthew 5:4, we contemplate and meditate upon this Attitude of Being Free. It is natural for the heart to mourn over what was, and as we release it and let it go we are freed to rise above what used to be to realize what can be.

Matthew 7:1-14 corresponds to this "Attitude of Being" and show us that this includes being present with what is, being healed as we choose to be healers and to being comforted by our Divine Source.

Please affirm with us: “I now release, I let go and I let God; I am free with the freedom of Spirit!"

Thank you God, thank you God, thank you God!

For so it is and so it shall be, Amen!

March 21, 2018 - "BEING PRESENT!"

The past, the present
and the future are really one:
they are today."
― Harriet Beecher Stowe

"Ask, and it will be given to you; search, and you will find; knock, and the door will be opened for you." Matthew 7:7

"All good that we can conceive of is now ours. Is there evidence of the oak in the acorn? No! But there is a pattern of an oak there, and this pattern or image is what makes the tree. The image in mind makes the condition. Now is the time to plant the seed thought of the conditions we desire by saying, 'Come my good thoughts, let us inherit our kingdom.'” Charles Fillmore, Atom Smashing Power of Mind 47

"Let the beauty we love be what we do." The Essential Rumi, Coleman Barks 36

"God is love that must be converted into loving --- loving things of the present, those about you, the thoughts and words and works that are adding to the wealth and peace and beauty of the world now." Myrtle Fillmore, Healing Letters 142

"As faith increases through personal experience and energy grows through practice, the mind acquires a direction... As we do this we find ourselves becoming increasingly absorbed in the thought of what we are seeking. And so, at length, absorption merges into illumination, and the knowledge is ours." How to Know God - The Yoga Aphorisms of Patanjali 51-2

"So, Jesus is saying, 'The man who sorrows is fortunate, for in his sorrow, he may come to experience God's presence in his life." (Matthew 5:4) Eric Butterworth, Discover the Power Within You 61

"A lover's food is the love of bread, not the bread. No one who really loves, loves existence." The Essential Rumi, Coleman Barks 29

"It is not the thing that we usually think of as Christianity that brings one into the quickening, healing currents of Christ life. It is the stirring in us of the same Spirit of Christ that was and is in Jesus Christ -- the Spirit of God, standing forth in individual consciousness and expression -- the stirring up in our mind of divine ideas from the mind of Being." Myrtle Fillmore, Healing Letters 52

"To a Hindu, heaven and hell are both within Prakriti (objective knowledge...) The desire for Heaven is therefore an infinitely lower ambition than the desire for liberation." How to Know God - The Yoga Aphorisms of Patanjali 47-8

 "Man is free
at the moment he wishes to be."
― Voltaire

"Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted." Matthew 5:4

"The two baptisms, that of John and Jesus, represent the two common steps in the growth of the soul, denial and affirmation, the dropping of the old and the laying hold of the new. This is evolution.” Charles Fillmore, Teach Us To Pray 67

"When you are with everyone but me, you're with no one. When you are with no one but me, you're with everyone. Instead of being so bound up with everyone, be everyone. When you become that many, you're nothing. Empty." The Essential Rumi, Coleman Barks 28

"Sooner or later every human being will have to discover the Truth about God, and make his own contact with Him at first hand. He will have to acquire the understanding of Truth, which will set him free, once and for all, from our three-dimensional limitations and their concomitants -- sin, sickness, and death." Emmet Fox, The Sermon On The Mount 23

"You have turned my mourning into dancing; you have taken off my sackcloth and clothed me with joy, " Psalm 30:11

February 28, 2018 - "ALIGNED WITH SPIRIT!"

“The only thing
that is truly important
is being in alignment with spirit."

We continue our meditation and contemplation upon the Sermon on the Mount (Matthew 5,6 & 7.) This month we focus on the first of the eight statements of Being known as the Beattitudes. "Blessed are the poor in spirit; for theirs is the kingdom of Heaven," and verses 7:15-23 which correspond to this "Attitude of Being."

The Attitude of Being "poor in spirit" includes being open, humble, teachable and aligned with spirit. With these attitudes focusing our consciousness on the infinite, eternal, unlimited presence and power that is God; we are open and receptive to an awareness of the Kingdom of Heaven, the realm of Divine Spirit, that is ever present within us, now!

Please affirm with us: “I open my heart to love, I open my mind to peace, I open my soul to the joy of Spirit!"

Thank you God, thank you God, thank you God!

The Sermon On The Mount, Matthew chapters 5 - 7, are the center piece of the Gospel of Matthew. It is a framework for understanding the New Testament and the teaching of Jesus of Nazareth, the Good News (Gospel.) The Beatitudes are literally Attitudes of Being. Found in Matthew 5:3-10 they serve as a table of contents, in reverse order, for the sermon; each of the eight statements and attitudes are expanded upon in the verses that follow.

The term Beatitude comes from the Latin word Beati which begins each statement. It is most often interpreted as Blessed, and also can be interpreted as Happy or Fulfilled.

This year we will be unpacking these statements, opening them up for contemplation, meditation and a realization of their blessing in our lives. We begin this month by contemplating On Being, Being Blessed, Being Happy and Being Fulfilled.

Please affirm with us: “I am happy, joyous and free just as God created me to be!"

Thank you God, thank you God, thank you God!
